When we opened our doors, we were gifted with used office furniture that has long since become Shepherd Pathways. Cindi added, “While nostalgic (to me at least) and very handy, it’s time to move these pieces on to another needy nonprofit.

Up next, a renovation of the kitchen & landscaping the front yard…

Last week, Associate Professor of Communication Sciences & Disorders Jacqueline Laures Gore and her graduate students hosted ‘Good Morning Aphasia’, an event offering vital information on technology, aphasia recovery and other issues that people with aphasia and their friends and family face every day. For more information about Professor Gore’s work researching aphasia, check out this interview

Side by Side sent a group of members to attend the event and they returned feeling inspired by the speakers. Deborah reported, “I wanted more!” She also explained to other members a little about her aphasia and how she uses writing to express herself when she runs into challenges expressing herself.

Donate to Honor a Caregiver in YOUR Life

We all know someone who is ALWAYS by your side when you need them. Every member of Side by Side has had a sudden shift in their life after acquiring their brain injury. What is not always noted is that brain injury impacts the entire family. At Side by Side, we support members AND their families. Since 75% of our members live with their family, a huge benefit we provide is respite – which is important to the health of any household.

Side by Side is happy to provide a place where caregivers know their loved ones are safe, valued and productive. Please donate to support the entire faimly and finish our fiscal year successfully. Now through the end of our fiscal year on June 30th, we’ll send a note letting the honoree know you gave to Side by Side! Every donation helps other caregivers have a break! Click here to donate>>
